Kaoru Watanabe Taiko Center is proud to host annual or semi-annual taiko and fue intensives here in Brooklyn, New York that attract students from around the world who come to study with Kaoru Watanabe. | A note from Kerryn Joyce, TaikOz School Coordinator–TaikOz invites taiko players from all over the world – from beginner to professional – to join us and our special guest, Kaoru Watanabe, for three fun days of taiko, shinobue, dance, singing and more.Kaoru, a former member of Kodo, is a practitioner of various Japanese transverse bamboo flutes, the taiko drum as well as Western flute. His music can be best described as an ever-shifting blend of the folk and classical traditions of Japan with contemporary improvisational and experimental music.
