Arigatou gozaimashita to everyone who came to play and enjoy taiko; to relish in a beautiful, cool summer evening, great food, great drinks and great company; and to support Kaoru Watanabe Taiko Center! From all of us at KWTC, we say “otsukaresema deshita.” Special thanks to New York Taiko Aiko Kai, Biwanko Daiko & the Okada Family, Mr. Akihito Obama, and Ms. Courtney Ozaki for their contributions to our program last night! Thank you to The Village @GUREJE, which has been KWTC’s home base since 2008. Thank you to our planners and helping hands–Evan, Mari, Jin Jin (also known as Carol, our newest intern! More later!), Chie from Cornell University, Courtney Ozaki, Noah, our KWTC students who gave me some great interviews, and more…
I’ve included a couple of great shots taken by one of our newest students, Richie. Thanks Richie! More pictures and videos to come soon!
What was your favorite part of the evening? Anything you’d like to suggest for the next happyoukai? Please, send us any comments, questions, or feedback to firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks again for such a great time! See you in class.
Patty, KWTC Intern
(P.S. There are still even more opportunities to see KWTC performances this summer. Tonight and tomorrow Evan and I are performing taiko during Hoi Polloi’s show, BAAL, as part of the undergroundzero festival 2012 at 8pm in JACK, which is located at 505 1/2 Waverly Ave btw. Fulton and Atlantic in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn off the C train at Clinton-Washington. BAAL runs Thursdays through Sundays until August 5th and if you come for more than one show, you will also get a chance to see Kaoru and Barbara Merjan performing as well. Please note the show has mature content, appropriate for 17 years+. Next up, Kaoru is performing at Shapeshifter Lab this Tuesday with Matthew Garrison and Damion Reid. More on the events page…)
